Privacy Policy
Effective July 17, 2026. Applies to the KeyStage iPad app and keystageapp.com.
The short version: KeyStage works without an account, stores practice
data on your iPad, never listens through a microphone, shows no ads, and
uses no tracking or analytics companies. We collect the minimum needed to
run the app, and we do not sell any of it, ever.
What KeyStage collects
- Nothing, by default. You can use the app without an account.
Profiles, settings, and practice history stay on your iPad.
- Waitlist email. If you join the waitlist on this site, we store
the email address you give us and use it to tell you about launch.
Nothing else is attached to it.
- Account email. If you create an account in the app (optional,
used to sync between iPads), we store the email you sign in with, or a
private relay address if you use Sign in with Apple.
- Practice data, if you sync. With an account, your household's
profiles (a display name, an avatar color, settings) and practice
sessions (which piece, when, for how long, and how it was scored) are
stored on our servers so your other iPads can see them.
What KeyStage never does
- No microphone. The app scores what your MIDI keyboard reports.
It never records or listens to audio.
- No ads, and no ad networks.
- No third-party analytics or tracking SDKs.
- No selling or sharing of personal data. Practice data exists to
show progress to your household and no one else.
- No chat, no social features, no external links inside kid-facing
screens.
Children
KeyStage is built for families. Kid profiles are just a name and a color
chosen by the household; the app does not ask children for personal
information. Progress reports live behind a grown-ups gate. Accounts are
created and managed by a parent or guardian.
Where data lives and how it is protected
On-device data stays in the app's private storage. Synced data is hosted
with Supabase (our database provider) and is isolated per household with
row-level security, so one household's data is never visible to another.
Sign-in tokens are kept in the device keychain and are not included in
device backups. Connections use HTTPS.
Deleting your data
- A profile: delete it in the app's settings. This removes the
profile and its practice history.
- Your account and synced data: email us at
support@keystageapp.com and
we will delete the account and everything synced with it.
- The waitlist: the launch email will include a way to be
removed, or email us any time.
Changes
If this policy changes in a way that matters, we will say so plainly on
this page and, if you have an account, by email.
